Stories from the Story Stick

By far the most popular of what I offer. Stories from around the world can be chosen from my beautifully engraved story stick. Where will your performance go? Stories about animals, of faraway places or magical beasts await, you just have to choose.

Alongside the story stick sits the story suitcase, full of props to help bring some of the stories to life for young and old.

Recommended age: 4 - 12 yrs

Stories for Schools

A visit from a storytelling author can prove extremely beneficial to students of all ages. Hearing stories being told without the aid of a book or pre-rehearsed scripts helps free the mind and open up the listener's imagination. This is proven to improve creative writing skills in all year groups and helps the listeners to understand story structure better.
Visits to schools can be themed to fit in with topics, World Book Day or National Storytelling week.
As a former primary school teacher, I have seen first hand what storytelling can do for children's learning and have a passion for taking storytelling into schools.

Author visit

I have always written children's fiction in my spare time. I am currently writing my first children's novel, however, I have recently had two books published.
The first, Leicestershire Folk Tales for Children, was published in August 2018 and contains a selection of Leicestershire folk tales re-written for children aged 6 - 13 yrs old. It is currently available through the History Press or Amazon.
The second book, Forest Folk Tales for Children, is the follow-up but taking a more national approach retelling folktales from different forests across the country.
On my visit I can discuss what it takes to write a book, the processes and how to make the stories interesting for the target audience. I can also tell some of the stories from the books along with other folktales from across the land.
